STORY OF THE NAME
Mineral Securities once existed as Mineral Securities Australia Limited, commonly known as Minsec. Although the companies are not associated, both shared a vision to become one of Australia ’s most successful mining houses.
Like the Minsec of the 1960’s, Mineral Securities strategy of today is simple: invest in mining projects and make profits by developing them into successful operations.
Minsec had a short but large life (1965-1970), rising with power and awe. The company traded hard, becoming one of the largest share traders Australia had ever known.
Minsec made huge profits, but it overstayed the bull market, eventually collapsing when it invested in much more than it could afford through inappropriate gearing strategies.
For most of its five years, Minsec was a hugely successful company. Today, Mineral Securities is looking to achieve the same levels of success. Equipped with stronger technical skills and lessons from the Minsec era, Mineral Securities Limited is on track to put the Mineral Securities name back on top.
Note: Trevor Sykes book 'The Money Miners' looks at the great Australian mining boom of the 1960's and details the rise and fall of The House of Minsec.
